A BILL to amend article two, chapter eighteen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended,
by adding thereto a new section, designated section twelve,
relating to the state board of education providing a West
Virginia state flag to every public school in the state.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article two, chapter eighteen of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twelve, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
§18-2-12. West Virginia state flag distributed to all public
schools.
The state board of education shall before the thirty-first
day of December, one thousand nine hundred ninety-nine determine if the public schools in the state have a West Virginia state
flag. If there is any public school that does not have a state
flag, then the state board shall obtain and distribute a state
flag to that school. It is the purpose and intention of the
Legislature that all public schools in this state have a West
Virginia state flag and display it.
NOTE: This bill requires the State Board of Education to
furnish West Virginia state flags to all public schools, if the
schools do not have a state flag.
